What is LISTENING?

According to Oxford Dictionary listening is a verb and means to either to take notice of what somebody says to you so that you follow their advice or believe them. Or it is used to tell somebody to take notice of what you are going to say. An example would be, listen; there's something I have to tell you. http://oald8.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/dictionary/listen_1

"He who restrains his words has knowledge, And he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding." -- Proverbs 17:27

In modern times listening is a form of communication that can be considered one of the most important tools one must perfect in order to become successful. Listening is used in order to make oral communication effective. If one is a poor listener they could make the one speaking feel uncomfortable and disrespected. Inattentive listening could be considered one of the worst things to do in the business world. Therefore, listening does not only affect the individual trying to absorb the information but as well as the speaker.
